You Asked & Mayor Ballard Listened: 4/16/11 in Indianapolis is Proclaimed Foursquare Day

Recently, Indianapolis was ranked the 44th on the list of top socially networked cities. We’re dedicated to moving Indy up that chart!  We think that Indy’s amazing support and use of foursquare will help put Indy on the map.

A month ago, we launched a social media petition that asked Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard to declare 4/16 as FOURSQUARE DAY. The petition had tremendous support from foursquare fanatics and businesses across the city.

Today we got some great news from Mayor Ballard. And.. it’s not an April Fool’s Day joke:

April 16, 2011 Proclamation for FOURSQUARE DAY

The Official Proclamation! Tweet the love to @MayorBallard!

Be sure to join the festivities that are happening on FOURSQUARE DAY (4sqDay).

Those events, including our 4sqDay conference,  are listed and will be updated at: http://4sqindy.com/2011/03/26/4sqday/

Cheers!

After taking a bruising from Men's Health magazine, which I give very little credence too, this is the exact type of thing Fort Wayne needs to shrug off naysayers. We need an active and supportive Government along with media outlets that are willing to cover our strengths instead of glamorizing potential weaknesses.

Kudos to you guys for the initiative and to the Mayor of Indianapolis for the follow through.

Thank you very much for the kind words! We try hard to support the business and so that there is so much unique things to do in our backyard. Hope you can make it to our 4sqDay conference.
