You Asked & Mayor Ballard Listened: 4/16/11 in Indianapolis is Proclaimed Foursquare Day
Posted by Hust0058 in 4SqDAY, Indianapolis, Meet Up on April 1, 2011
Recently, Indianapolis was ranked the 44th on the list of top socially networked cities. We’re dedicated to moving Indy up that chart! We think that Indy’s amazing support and use of foursquare will help put Indy on the map.
A month ago, we launched a social media petition that asked Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard to declare 4/16 as FOURSQUARE DAY. The petition had tremendous support from foursquare fanatics and businesses across the city.
Today we got some great news from Mayor Ballard. And.. it’s not an April Fool’s Day joke: Read the rest of this entry »

I Want That Badge: 4SqDAY
Posted by CBanks in 4SqDAY, Badge, I Want That Badge on March 31, 2011
Just like last year foursquare is joining in on 4SqDAY fun with a badge! 4SqDAY is a fan-organized global event founded by 4SqDAY.com. You will unlock this badge with your first check in on 4/16! Easy right!
Here in Indianapolis we have a great idea on which venue that should be! We’ve spent months planning one of the biggest 4SqDAY celebrations in the world with a 4SqDAY Conference at the Marriott Downtown (just lowered the ticket price and they’re going fast!) and an after party right down the street at Scotty’s Brewhouse (don’t forget to use the #ILoveSBH hashtag). Come out, check in, get a badge, have tons of fun, and get some cool foursquare swag!

I Want That Badge: Check in to the #Superbowl From Your Couch
Posted by CBanks in Badge, I Want That Badge on February 6, 2011
Foursquare is trialling a new nationally featured “place” to check into. What better way to try it out than Superbowl XLV?

“Super Bowl Sunday” will be available in the “trending now” section on Fourquare’s mobile apps. If you check in and shout which team you’re rooting for, you’ll unlock a Packers or Steelers badge. Badges will come with redemption codes for 20 percent off at NFLShop.com.
Though no money is changing hands with the NFL, I have a feeling we’ll see more of this soon, as an engagement tool for brands. A number of companies such as Miso, GetGlue and Badgeville have already begun to extend the check-in to things like TV shows and websites.
This represents usage growth opportunities and monetization events for a wider range of advertising. Foursquare, being the leader of the check-in game — and a proponent of constant evolution — is primed to get this going in unique ways.

Why Foursquare is about to blow up social media
Posted by Bryan Jackson in Businesses, Wabash Valley on July 30, 2010
Heard of Foursquare? If not then you better get familiar. This company is about to totally change the way consumers and businesses think of marketing and brand recognition.
As a primer, you can educate yourself by clicking here …………
Ok, so why is this a game changer? Foursquare takes the white noise we see coming from advertisers today away and places credibility behind those that are giving the tips, advice and suggestions. People want to be given the “inside info” on places to eat, drink and socialize. Those that hear about great things to do and see feel like they are in the “know” and we all want to be in the “know”.
Ego also plays a big factor on sites like Foursquare. People want to share information with others. Knowlege is power and those with the power like to be recognized by sharing this knowledge with their circle of friends or social network. Social standing on Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Foursquare and any other platform is important.
If you are a business owner, feel free to start taking notes at any time because I am going to get to the good part here.
Business owners…… your biggest ROI is no longer in newspapers, television, on line advertising or billboards (although I have heard that billboards are seeing the biggest increases in terms of advertising. Don’t believe me? Just look at the “shoe containers” the next time you go through security at O’Hare or Midway.) Your biggest ROI will be cracking the networks like Foursquare and having connectors like @4SqINDY, @4SqChicago, @4SqATL and even little networks like @4SqWabashValley tweet your deals to their trusted networks of followers.
Don’t believe me? Most of these networks have been in existence for less than 2 months and already have hundreds of followers. Ever heard of a bell curve? We are in the first quadrant. The second experiences extreme growth. Are you ready? I bet your competitors are.
